2 found Jesus at Missions Fest Seattle

Sunday, October 23rd, 2011

On Friday, October 7th, a group of four exchange students from China approached our booth. They had come to Mission Fest on a field trip arranged by their school. When they saw the pictures of China at our booth, they stopped and asked several questions.

I saw this as an opportunity to practice my Mandarin. I’m often curious to find out how people from China first heard about Jesus. These students said that they learned about Him when they came to the US, through their school and house parents. I realized that they had learned much about God but I wanted to find out if they had received Jesus and believed that He was the Son of God. They did not.

We spoke briefly about what it means to be a Christian. I could see that incredible seeds had been sown in their time here in the US. I could feel the Holy Spirit and felt led to ask them if they wanted to ask God to live in them.

That morning God used Mission Fest as the harvest point. Two young men in that group of exchange students prayed with us to receive Jesus as their Lord and Savior.

Thank you Mission Fest for giving us this awesome opportunity!

Thank you for a wonderful Missions Fest!

Sunday, October 9th, 2011

“Thank you for a wonderful Missions Fest! What a spirit of unity there seemed to be “nearly” every where I turned. The music was heavenly, the Speakers were anointed, so many were touched and I’m certain that the Lord is already calling “laborers, for the harvest is plenty!”

The Lord has blessed and His Name was exalted beyond all measure. May He continue to guide and direct, give strength and wisdom as you press on toward 2012 to get His mind on who He will bring as Speakers and where He wants to gather those who will come to hear.

Thanks for letting me be apart of it all. I know Roy was looking down from Heaven and had a big smile on his heart. I was honored to help in what I know was a very small way. It was just all a touch from our Savior and to Him be the glory, both now and forever. Amen!”

MFS is overrun by school kids!

Friday, October 7th, 2011

588 Christian schools and home school students have just left Missions Fest Seattle (Westminster Chapel in Bellevue). They were challenged by jungle pilot, Russ Stendall (twice captured by guerrillas in Colombia), Greg Lyons and his magician from the Philippines, and Luis Palau, world renown evangelist from Argentina. The students were also offered 2 choices from 48 workshops. God is at work – more to come this weekend!

Follow me?! On Facebook or Twitter, LinkedIn or YouTube?

Tuesday, September 20th, 2011

Follow me?! On Facebook or Twitter, LinkedIn or YouTube? I hear it all the time, from news hen Jane Talkative at XYZ.com or my 60 “friends?” I can’t “follow” all of them. Do I even want to? I’m a bit overwhelmed by all the social media. Who should I follow?

Well, Jesus said, “Follow me.” That sounds more like it. He’s worth “following.” But how? Pastor Jan Hettinga authored a book, “Follow Me” which examines the kingdom of heaven, challenging you to see what keeps you from truly following Jesus. I’d like to learn what this “kingdom” is all about, and what “following Jesus” really means. Dr. Hettinga walks the walk, planting and inspiring a bunch of new churches right here in the Puget Sound area. He’ll inspire you. He oozes grace, sort of like Jesus.

Pastor Jan Hettinga is speaking Saturday morning 9:30-10:40am.

Stendal – freed by guerillas

Wednesday, March 23rd, 2011

Russell Stendal freed by guerillas after a 6 month captivity in the jungles of Columbia, SA, is now attempting to evangelize as many as possible via several methods. With the help of the Lord, he’s been able to build radio stations that can be heard on the fixed-tuned radios he drops by parachute over the jungle. Also dropped are Bibles and Christian literature.

He’ll be speaking in the Saturday afternoon general session, as well as to the Christian students that gather on Friday at 10 a.m. for their Friday Field Trip (this event only requires online pre-registration).

Comments on the conference

Saturday, October 16th, 2010

From Christina, 23 years old

I want to say how absolutely blessed I was by the conference. There were so many life-changing truths that I learned over the weekend. I loved all of the speakers and was just so inspired. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU to all of you who put so many hours of work to make this happen.

From Mark:

I presented a session at the Friday Field trip on “The Wordless Book”, a tool I use to win children to Christ. I thought I would be teaching the students how to use it on their friends. Instead, of the 11 in my session, when I got to the invitation to accept Christ, 8 indicated that they wanted to right then! When I asked if they had ever made this decision before, they said, “No”.

From Maxine:

On Saturday evening in the children’s program, when I asked if any of the children wanted to accept Christ, 3 indicated that they did.

Volunteer Opportunities

Wednesday, October 6th, 2010

On October 7-8 we will be meeting for the 6th Annual Missions Fest Seattle celebration. Our committee is anticipating another dynamic event. We hope that many in your congregation will take advantage of the wonderful seminars and exhibits to be inspired and encouraged as they seek ways to share God’s love and message of hope and redemption around the world. This really is a quality event, even though there is no conference fee to attend!
