Arabs, Muslims, Islam—I’m scared of terrorists.
Sunday, August 21st, 2011
Arabs, Muslims, Islam—I’m scared of terrorists. Aren’t they trying to take over America? I don’t understand them. Well no, I’ve never talked with a Muslim. I don’t know one or much about them. Maybe they’re frightened of us too? How come they persecute Christians in the Middle East? I’ve heard that many are coming to follow Jesus. He must love them too. What did he mean I should love my enemy? How can I? I’d like to meet an Arab Christian who can explain all this.
You can. Renajoy from Bagdad, a child of a Sunni father and Christian mother, turned to Christ, and experienced attempted kidnappings, a fatwa on her life, and fled to Jordan because even traditional churches there suspected her. You’ll begin to understand Islam and what Jesus meant about loving your enemy.
Renajoy’s seminar topic is Middle East the True Promise. Renajoy will speak on Saturday 12:30 – 1:30 in Room 304ABC.

Somali kids, Starving!
Thursday, July 28th, 2011
Somali kids, starving! Have you seen their pictures on TV? Heart wrenching. Neglected orphans in Romania, Afghan girls denied education, Asian kids sold in sex trade. Children in crisis world-wide, 1.8 billion of them. Is there anything we can do beyond sending money? What realistically can we do as Jesus’ hands and feet, his people? He said, “Let them come to me…for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” He also said, “…whatever you did for one of the least of these…you did for me.”
Doug Nichols with a lifetime of putting many feet into ACTION will guide us in October.
Doug’s seminar topic is The Need for Ministry to Children in Crisis. Come hear Doug speak Saturday 11am – 12 noon in the Fireside Room.

C’mon now, we’re a Christian country, right?
Tuesday, July 19th, 2011
C’mon now, we’re a Christian country, right? What do you mean, “post-Christian?” Most people in America claim to believe in God! Okay, our American pop culture doesn’t talk about Jesus, except in exclamation! And our public schools, well you’re right, we’ve kicked God out of them. So you say we’re becoming “post Christian” like Europe? Yeah, I guess it’s true. Most of my friends and neighbors don’t seem interested in the Lord. What can I do? Are there some prerequisites to sharing Christ? What’s an effective strategy to reach our friends in a post-Christian world?
Dr Joseph R. Ziska, D.Miss., working in Austria since 1979 has lots of experience to share in October.
Dr Joseph R. Ziska, D.Miss. will be presenting his seminar, Theological Education Which Strengthens the Church on Saturday, 11:00 – 12:00pm in room 406.

Plan this vacation trip?
Tuesday, July 5th, 2011
Nah! We’ll just start driving and see where we end up. On the other hand, maybe we better have a plan. God does. For the world, and for us here. But what is it? How can I figure out what He is doing in the tumult of tsunamis and the Arab Spring with its freedom eruptions? Or through worldwide poverty. What does God want me to do about that? Or should I concentrate on my friends and family? I want to do something, but what? How do I get a global perspective while making my life count right here where I live as a “good and faithful servant?”
Dr. Gordon Donoho, President/CEO of Christians in Action working in 22 countries of the world will share his experience in October. Potential re-directions for followers of Jesus who care for those anywhere looking for hope.
Dr. Gordon Donoho will be presenting his seminar, Thinking Globally – Acting Locally on Friday, 4:00 – 5:00pm in room 222AB.

This is Crazy
Wednesday, June 22nd, 2011
This is crazy—using the HIV/AIDS epidemic to bring two huge Christian Ethiopian denominations together who have fought each other for 100 years! But then Tim Teusink, MD, patched up both Tutsis and Hutus in Rwanda in his operating room for several years during the ethnic slaughter. So he knows something about reconciliation. He believes in miracles. But teaching human value, sexuality and marriage to seminarians, the future leaders of 80 million people, protestant and orthodox, draws people together as never before. What can we learn about reaching out as Jesus taught, to our own “Samaritans,” also people made in His image? Find out in October what God has done through Tim.
Tim Teusink, M.D. (SIM) will be presenting his seminar, Mobilizing the Church for HIV/AIDS Prevention and Care on Saturday, 12:30 – 1:30pm in room 406.
