2 found Jesus at Missions Fest Seattle
Sunday, October 23rd, 2011
On Friday, October 7th, a group of four exchange students from China approached our booth. They had come to Mission Fest on a field trip arranged by their school. When they saw the pictures of China at our booth, they stopped and asked several questions.
I saw this as an opportunity to practice my Mandarin. I’m often curious to find out how people from China first heard about Jesus. These students said that they learned about Him when they came to the US, through their school and house parents. I realized that they had learned much about God but I wanted to find out if they had received Jesus and believed that He was the Son of God. They did not.
We spoke briefly about what it means to be a Christian. I could see that incredible seeds had been sown in their time here in the US. I could feel the Holy Spirit and felt led to ask them if they wanted to ask God to live in them.
That morning God used Mission Fest as the harvest point. Two young men in that group of exchange students prayed with us to receive Jesus as their Lord and Savior.
Thank you Mission Fest for giving us this awesome opportunity!

Ever watch a child hearing a story?
Tuesday, September 27th, 2011
Ever watch a child hearing a story? Wide eyes, intent, serious—soaking it in like a sponge. What would you like your kid to absorb? How about a Bible story or some missionary adventure? Alissa’s tales from the Middle East, or Lydia’s about hidden children in India? Or Voice of the Martyrs’ video “Stephen’s Test of Faith.”
Lighten it up with songs, games, Chinese paper crafts with Karen. All this and more when you bring your K- 6th graders with you to Missions Fest Seattle. It starts at 6:30pm on Friday October 7 and Saturday at 9:15am, with additional sessions throughout the day and into the evening, each about two hours in length.

Hey, I’m 16 years old
Thursday, September 15th, 2011
Hey, I’m 16 years old and getting bored with my smart phone and video games and TV. I like sports though. But I’d like to do something for someone else for a change. Not just me. Maybe some poor kids in another country. Yeah, maybe collect stuff for them that they need but are too poor to buy.
I’ve heard kids my age are getting things together like toothbrushes to send to poor students in the Philipines. That’s something I can do! They say it’s part of the program for teens at Missions Fest Seattle. How do I get involved? Would you let me know how to sign up? Awesome! But please hurry. I want to get going.

At what age did you chose to follow Jesus?
Sunday, September 11th, 2011
At what age did you chose to follow Jesus? I hope you have. Most people begin their journey with God before they grow up. They’re still exploring what life’s all about. Greg Lyons did and look what happened. After graduate degrees, he’s spent the next 26 years targeting young people in Manila where 39% of people are 15 or younger, and 68% age 29 or younger. Like Willie Sutton robbed banks because that’s where the money was, God called Greg to expose kids to the life-changing good news of God’s love, perhaps because they listen and respond. Greg’s done it.
You can hear his stories. Nearly half a million young people learn of Jesus in Manila alone. Kids hear of him at basketball camps. A large Bible School trains future leaders for Asia and missionaries for the world. Church planters envision expanding the new 13 congregations to 100. Maybe our vision here in the United States is too small. Or that we need another Greg Lyons, some young person in the pipeline. Come and be challenged to ask why it couldn’t it happen here? Or is God already at work here too?
Greg Lyons is speaking Saturday evening 7:00-8:45pm (combined adult and youth plenary).

“You’ve never heard of Luis Palau?
Tuesday, September 6th, 2011
“You’ve never heard of Luis Palau? How about Billy Graham? Martin Luther?”
“Okay, I’ve heard of most these men past and present whose work God has blessed incredibly. But when I read about Palau sharing his faith with 25 million people in 72 countries, and one million deciding to follow Jesus, I’m overwhelmed. How did Palau come to do that? How did God call him? What is the source of his power? How does his presenting Jesus lead to so many coming to Him?
“What can I do by contrast? I want to share the good news too, but I seem so limited, so hesitant. I know God lives in me, and that he can do more than I can even imagine, according to the power that is at work in me. ‘So help me Lord, through hearing your servant Luis Palau, to learn what you want me to do in your kingdom here or far away. And help me to accept that I am just me, and that your power is made perfect in weakness. Inspire me, empower me, to be clay in your hands to represent you well here and now.’”
Luis Palau is speaking Friday evening 7:00-8:30pm.
